How Clean Is Your Home

How clean is your home?
A recent article in a Sunday newspaper highlighted the areas of most concern for harbouring germs. Surprisingly, the main offenders weren’t where you may think.
The Kitchen sponge/dishcloth is one of the dirtiest items in your home. This alone can harbour up to 10 million bacteria per square inch! Keep it clean by washing in hot soapy water and replace regularly.
Toothbrush and holder should be cleaned in hot water and dried after each use. Replace your toothbrush regularly to maintain good oral hygiene.
Towels can be a source of cross contaminating bacteria such as staphylococci and streptococcus. Don’t share towels where possible and make sure it is not stored damp.
Pillows and bed sheets are a haven for bacteria and fungi. Wash sheets and mattress protectors regularly in hot water and regularly replace your pillows.
Simple, good hygiene practices are an important part of good health.
